This session will include what you need to know about the different types of investments, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and exchange traded funds, and how you can get started building an investment portfolio. The Center on Global Energy Policy’s Women in Energy program is organizing an overview and tour of Solidia Technologies in Piscataway, NJ. This tour is open to all students and Women in Energy professional members. About Solidia Technologies is a cement and concrete technology company with patented scientific systems that makes it easy and profitable to use CO₂ to create better building, construction, and industrial products. The technology has the potential to eliminate a minimum of 1.5 gigatonnes of CO₂ each year. Solidia provides two core technologies: 1) A sustainable cement manufacturing technology, which can be produces in traditional cement kilns using less energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions during manufacture by 30-40%. 2) A sustainable concrete curing technology, curing concrete with CO₂ instead of water, permanently and safety consuming 240 kg of CO₂, and potentially saving 3 trillion liters of fresh water every year. Judith will talk about her career path, as well as Engie’s approach to mobilizing green finance, including the company’s leadership in green bond issuance, its expansion into electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and its portfolio of clean energy generation assets. *** Biography Judith Hartmann is EVP & CFO of ENGIE since 2015. She is also in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). She serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of UNILEVER. Judith has extensive international experience as financial and operational manager in both services and industry. She started her career in 1993 by joining the Transport Department of the Canadian government in Ottawa. Between 1995 and 1997, she was a Research Analyst at the WU Vienna University of Business Administration & Economics. In 1997, she joined the Finance department of the Walt Disney Company in France. In 2000, she joined GE where she held various positions in the course of a 12-year period: in France for GE Healthcare Europe, at the headquarter of GE Healthcare in the USA, in 2004 CFO for Global Service GE Healthcare Clinical Systems, in 2007 CFO of GE Water EMEA, based in Belgium then Austria. Appointed in Brazil as CFO of GE Healthcare Latin America in 2009, she later became its CEO. Finally, in 2011, she became CFO of GE Germany. From 2012, she served as CFO and member of the Executive Board of the Bertelsmann Group in Germany and as non-executive director of the RTL Group, Director of the Board of Penguin Random House LLC and Gruner & Jahr AG & Co KG. Judith Hartmann holds a master’s degree in International Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Economics from the WU Vienna University of Business Administration & Economics. — Registration is required. It enables utilities to monitor customers’ energy usage in real time, solar panel manufactures to remotely troubleshoot product failures, and consumers to save energy with smart home devices. Join the Women in Energy program for a timely hands-on workshop on IoT technology. In this workshop, attendees will design and prototype an IoT system or product. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of how IoT will impact their current/future businesses, and the ability to create IoT software applications (see example). This workshop will be led by engineers from Temboo. No engineering or computer science background is needed to participate. Registration is required. The Center on Global Energy Policy’s Women in Energy program is organizing a tour for students and Women in Energy professional members of the Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery in Linden, NJ. About The Bayway Refinery has approximately 800 employees and processes mainly light, low-sulfur crude oil (crude capacity: 258,000 barrels per day). Crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker from Canada and West Africa, and U.S.-advantaged crude is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transport. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and petrochemical feedstocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. The facility distributes refined products to East Coast customers by barge, truck, pipeline and railcar.
